Sandown airfield on the south-east of the Isle of Wight continues to develop its facilities with the addition of six new hangars.
Tangmere Hangar Recover
Home to Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, Tangmere Airfield in West Sussex continues to invest in its facilities, promoting public awareness of the United Kingdom’s military aviation heritage, educating both present and future generations in military aviation.
Key to the museums activities is maintaining their impressive display of historic aircraft alongside their unique collection of aviation memorabilia. An important part of maintaining their vintage aircraft is their aircraft hangarage.
Originally a design and build project, specified to house one of the airfield’s helicopters; this 12.3 metres wide, 6.2 metres high hangar, needed modification following a change to the type of aircraft being stored. McGregor Hangars returned to the airfield in late October 2018 following contact from the airfield to supply and install a new gable-end with a sliding PVC curtain door.
This new steel framework and PVC cover will create a fully enclosed environment, providing full protection, safeguarding the longevity of their prized vintage aircraft. The additional gable framework and recover was successfully constructed by our specialist installation team in just 2 days.
